What is the SL product KIT, and how does it work?
The SL (Self-Leveling) product from Form-A-Tread combines 2 gallons of high strength, two-part, 1:1 ratio, epoxy binder and enough inorganic, hi-durometer, slip resistant aggregate to recoat two 14′ x 2.5’ or two 14’ x 3’ (combined left and right side) Split ramps. After mixing, the epoxy is spread evenly onto the surface of the ramp and the aggregate is then topically applied onto the binder to completely cover the ramp surface. A durable, slip-resistant surface is created that improves safety and extends the life of your ramps.
How much does it cost to resurface a ramp with the SL product?
Resurfacing a Melcher fiberglass composite ramp using our SL product costs approximately $275 per ramp. This is significantly more economical compared to purchasing a new ramp, which can cost up to $1,400 each.
How long does the resurfacing process take?
The entire process, including surface preparation, takes around 1 hour. See the video for surface preparation steps and SL application.
How long after application can the ramp be put back into service?
The ramp can be put back into service in 4 hours after application at 75°F or above. Wait for 5 or 6 hours for colder temperature. Remember “the lower the temperature, the slower the cure”. For easiest application, apply SL in temperatures above 60°F.
How does the slip resistance of SL compare to the original OEM coating?
Our SL product has been specifically formulated to provide superior slip resistance. With a Dynamic Coefficient of Friction (DCOF, Wet) rating of 0.76, it offers enhanced safety in wet and high-traffic conditions, making it a more effective solution than the original OEM coating.
Can I apply the SL product myself, or do I need a professional?

Is the SL product safe to use?
Form-A-Tread SL is extremely safe to use. It is non-flammable, very low odor, 0% VOC, 100% solids and can be installed indoors or outside. As with any chemical product, always work in a well-ventilated area and wear safety gloves and glasses. If the epoxy binder gets on the skin, clothing, or other unwanted surface, it can be removed immediately using industrial cleaning wipes available at most hardware stores.
